We took a trip out to Zoo Doo the other day, its a wildlife park just out of Richmond, near Hobart. As well as the usual native animals they have a camel, a pair of male lions and a couple of tigers.
This shot of their camel was taken from the “Safari Bus” that runs you around the upper paddocks, through the Emu and Ostrich pens, farmyard animals and lastly the camels paddock.

Of course, big cats being big cats, they did not want to co-operate, and spent most of their time sleeping with their back to me, making getting photos a chore given the limited time frame I had to work with. I guess a few chooks over the fence may have bought them to life a bit more…

This shot was during the lion feeding, but they were only being thrown small bits of meat so there was no ripping of flesh off a carcass or anything like that. All very civilised really.

Next time it might pay to carry an extra zebra or two in your camera bag.
Nice shots none the less.

My name is Deekan. I’m going to your zoo with my school, Smithton Primary in 2 weeks on Thursday 25 March and im looking forward to it. I am really excited to see your tigers, they look really big and i haven’t seen a real one for a long time. Have you got any emu’s? I have never been to your zoo before. I will meet you when I get there. bye Deekan Jackson.

I like your photos. Pity the animals are incarcerated in a zoo. Zoos are just prisons for the unfortunate inmates. Imagine spending your life in a cage. No life really. It is a sad reflection of the way much of humanity interacts with nature.
