Well the Sydney weather really let us down when it came time to take photos after Bob and Naomi’s wedding, which was a real shame as we had lots of great shots planned. When Sydney rains, Sydney RAINS. And it barely stopped between the end of the reception until we had to come back to Hobart. While a bit of rain and water is great for a Trash the Dress shoot, this was far too much rain and with the locations we were visiting it would have proved quite dangerous, so we will be rescheduling the shoot for later on in the year, and it will probably be done in Hobart instead.
Here are a couple of shots taken at Bradleys Head.

Naomi looked stunning in her orange wedding dress, and we are all really looking forward to giving it a good Trashing!

Great shots! I’ve always wondered though; how much of the photo’s goodness is captured before the photo editing starts?

Peter, a great question, and I might point you towards this article I wrote. You do generally pre-visualise the photo when you take it, though some times you get it into the computer and play with it until it looks right. I tend to avoid editing images as such, but do make adjustments to colour and tone as needed. Digital camera RAW files are pretty ordinary looking to start out with, and need this “tweaking”. It should not be looked upon as cheating or anything. Its not like we can put a different type of film in to get a different look. Even in the old film days, colour etc was manipulated in the dark room/processing.
I try to stick to “film look” styles these days, emulating the tones of classic films.
These two photos, there is actually very little work done on them, aside from the obvious black and white conversion (in-camera black and white SUCKS – it basically just desaturates the image and therefore it looks dull and boring) and the colour one has some minor tweaks here and there based around a particular films properties. The photos “goodness” was certainly there off camera, but a little colour tweak gives it some more oomph.
Hope this helps.
