I still can’t believe they want to knock down 10 Murray St, Hobart. There are better things for the government to be spending money on than knocking down a perfectly fine building, just to build another one. Like doctors, nurses, teachers, and fixing the roads.

I mentioned in the last post I know some nerds, well… geeks really. Probably the biggest one of them we call Sheldon after Sheldon on The Big Bang Theory, because he is a massive physics geek. He is studying at the University of Tasmania and gets use of the Mount Pleasant Radio Observatory, about half way between Cambridge and Richmond, around 20km east of Hobart.
This is the 26m Telescope, built in 1965 by NASA, and originally installed near Canberra. When it became surplus to NASAs requirements, it was donated to UTAS and moved here in 1985/86. If you ever get a chance to go have a look at it, you should. Even if you don’t understand what anything is, it is very cool.
